Student Opportunity The P'yongyang Project

Greetings!

My name is Matthew Reichel and I am the head coordinating director of The P'yongyang Project, an independent, not-for-profit North Korea study program for students and academics. We have a special relationship in North Korea and this summer we will be running three study programs out of Beijing and P'yongyang. Last summer we ran an extremely successful eleven day program to P'yongyang, which has since been featured in Voice of America, the New York Times and the Brown Daily Herald (our company's directors are Brown University alums). The project is advised by Professor Thomas Gold (UC Berkeley) and John Delury (The Asia Society).

It is a unique opportunity for Americans to visit North Korea and get to interact with other program participants on a highly academic level through group discussions, lead sessions and on-the-road lectures. This year we have opened up some new cities in North Korea and we will be among the first Americans to visit Hamhung and Haeju in sixty years, in addition to visiting several North Korean universities and schools. We would like to send you and your students and colleagues a personal invitation to apply for this year's unique summer programs in the DPR Korea.

Specific program information and applications are available online on our website, www.pyongyangproject.org.

Please let me know if you have any questions or require any further clarifications.

All the best,

Matthew Reichel
