Development Department
The Development Department is seeking an undergraduate or graduate intern who is actively enrolled in an art history, history, museum studies, liberal arts, or other applicable program for Fall 2010.
Hours
20 hours a week, minimum.
Qualifications
The desired intern will be a proficient writer and have strong analytical skills. The ideal candidate should be proficient with the Internet, Excel, and MS Word. He/she should be able to type 50 words per minute and should have good organizational skills.
Responsibilities
This is a non-paid internship, but school credits can be awarded. Intern will work closely with the Director’s Circle and President’s Circle, major gift programs which raise unrestricted revenue for art acquisitions, educational programming, and museum operations. Duties primarily entail ongoing research projects, such as direct mail and corporate prospecting; researching and updating donor information via the Internet; and cross-checking mailing addresses in Enterprise, the museum’s fundraising database. Other responsibilities include filing, fulfilling donor stewardship internal gift processing, collaborating media for major proposals, and fulfilling upper-level membership benefits such as mailing VIP passes, exhibition catalogues, and other special donor requests. There may also be the opportunity to assist with special events for the Development Department, such as opening-night receptions and private viewings of exhibitions.
