Tuesday, November 9, 7:00-9:30pm – Ground Zero Performance Cafe
The Women's Creative Collective for Change (WCCC) presents “Griot Riot: Poetry and Story Telling for Radical Change".
Climbing Poetree is a Brooklyn-based, internationally-acclaimed, queer, woman of color performance duo.
In "Hurricane Season," Climbing Poetree uses spoken-word poetry, video projection, dance, shadow art, and a sound collage of personal testimonies to connect the issues that have surfaced in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina to the unnatural disasters disenfranchised communities worldwide experience on a daily basis.
Bring a friend (or two, or three), your journal (if you'd like), an open mind and come through to get inspired and create in a collaborative and energizing space! This event is FREE and open to the public!
