Clio, USC's history undergraduate organization, is going to be screening a number of movies this semester, and we're starting out with a film based on a USC professor's publication. The film is Dangerous Beauty, starring Catherine McCormack, Rufus Sewell, and Naomi Watts, among others. Dangerous Beauty follows the life of 16th century Venetian courtesan and poet Veronica Franco, who takes the viewer from bedchamber to royal audiences to the Inquisition in a dramatic rendering of 16th century Venice. The film is adapted from The Honest Courtesan, a scholarly investigation of Franco by Professor Margaret Rosenthal of French and Italian. Professor Rosenthal will be introducing the film. Invite friends--all are welcome!
