the 2010 Summer Transportation Internship Program for Diverse Groups
(STIPDG). This program provides summer opportunities for college students,
particularly targeting groups who have been underrepresented in careers
in transportation, such as women, persons with disabilities, and students
from other diverse groups.
Eligible participants are all college/university students majoring in any
academic area of study. STIPDG participants receive various benefits
including hands-on experience and on-the-job training at a DOT Operating
Administration or State DOT. Included is a ten-week stipend of up to
$5,000 for Law or Graduate students and $4,000 for Undergraduate
students.
Housing and travel arrangements are also provided for all interns that are
selected for assignments with locations outside of their commuting area
(50 miles). Participants may also receive college credit upon successful
completion of the program with the permission of their
college/university.
