Interested in going to Honduras?

Dear future Global Medical Brigaders,

Want to study abroad but don't have time? Want to have fun while helping those in need at the same time? Dying to go to Honduras? Whatever your reason, we have an opportunity you can't pass up. USC Global Medical Brigades is a student-run organization that travels to Honduras for one week during Winter Break (January 2011) to give health care and medicine to communities that otherwise wouldn't have access to the amenities we are so used to having.

Approximately 40 students and 5 health care professionals will go on the next 7-day trip to Honduras in January 2011. Four of the seven days will be spent traveling to the rural communities. Over the course of the brigades, we expect to see somewhere between 1500 and 2000 patients and will dispense vitamins, Advil/Tylenol, anti-parasite medication, inhalers, etc. to the patients when necessary. The other three days will be left for traveling, tourism, and preparing for the brigades. This is an amazing opportunity for students in any discipline and is the chance of a lifetime.

To be very clear, you do NOT have to be pre-health to participate in this endeavor, nor do you need any substantial knowledge of the Spanish language. We are simply looking for students who are excited and willing to put in an effort to such a worthy and fun-filled cause.

Please also note that we require a 3-hour commitment per week during the fall semester until we depart for Honduras in January. These three hours will be used in weekly meetings and fundraising efforts. Please email us with any questions (trojangmb@gmail.com).

Applications are due by midnight on Friday, April 23rd; you can apply here: http://uscglobalbrigades.wufoo.com/forms/usc-global-medical-brigades-january-2011-app/. Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have; we look forward to hearing from you!

All the best,
Anna
